Strawberry Bellini Recipe

This week we’ll be sharing three strawberry cocktails with you. It’s already strawberry season here in South Louisiana. In fact, this past weekend was our annual strawberry festival (held in Ponchatoula, La.). While I didn’t attend, I have in the past, and it’s quite a delicious, strawberry-filled experience. Today I bring you a simple yet tasty strawberry Bellini recipe.

Strawberry Bellini Cocktail Recipe

A Bellini is traditionally a mixture of sparkling wine and peach puree. I’ve simply substituted strawberries for peaches with oh-so-tasty results. I’m sure a strawberry Bellini is nothing new, but this was really the first time I’ve had it, and I really enjoyed it. What’s not to love? Strawberries and sparkling wine – yes please!

Strawberry Bellini Cocktail Recipe

A great thing about this recipe is how easy it is to prepare. Simply puree the strawberries, add that to a champagne flute and top with sparkling wine. Give it a quick stir and once you’ve garnished, you’re ready to drink. It’s a great brunch or weekend cocktail, for sure.

Strawberry Puree

Below I call to serve your Bellini in a chilled champagne flute. I like to chill my glassware for most cocktails or beverages that don’t require ice. It helps to keep the drink chilled just a little longer. You can easily chill any glass by placing it in the freezer for at least 30 minutes. A quick way to chill a glass is to fill it with ice and water, stir vigorously and then pour out the liquid. Either way works and is totally acceptable. Just depends how much time and inclination you have.

Strawberry Bellini Recipe

This Strawberry Bellini recipe is an interesting twist on a classic cocktail. It's cool, sparkling and refreshing!

Ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup pureed strawberries
  • 2 teaspoons simple syrup
  • 1/3 cup dry sparkling wine
  • Garnish: half a strawberry, stem still on, slit halfway up

Method:

  1. Combine the strawberry puree and simple syrup. Mix well.
  2. Next add pureed strawberry mixture to the bottom of a chilled champagne flute.
  3. Carefully add sparkling wine. Stir gently.
  4. Garnish with half strawberry and serve.

This recipe can easily be scaled up to multiple cocktails.
