How to Roast Bell Peppers

One of the things I’ve been trying to do more of is producing “How To” content. So far I’ve mainly done it via pictures. One day I’ll actually be producing videos. I need a darn tripod first, but I’m working on that. Anyway, today I’m going to show you how to roast bell peppers. It’s a snap, really.

How to Roast Bell Peppers

Roasted bell peppers, especially of the red, yellow or orange varieties, are one of those things that seems complicated until you actually just do it. As with most prep work, it’s not the difficulty, it’s just the time it takes to get the task done. But I promise, it’s worth the time and effort because roasted bell peppers that you make yourself are infinitely better than anything you can buy at the store.

Later this week you’ll see these used in a Southwestern hummus┬árecipe that’s one of my Cinco de Mayo recipes. Roasted red peppers are great with just about anything – dips, salads, pasta, pizza, dressings, soups. So many options! I plan to use them more and more in the coming months as I slightly shift focus on this blog to even more plant and whole food based recipes.

So let’s get to it…

  • Note: 2 large bell peppers yields 1/2 cup roasted bell pepper
  • Total time: 1 hour, 10 minutes

1. Preheat oven to 450 ┬║F, and place two large colored bell peppers on a baking sheet lined with a Silpat. Once oven is preheated, put pan in the oven.
